This past week, Forrester, the global research firm, published its report "Getting Real Work Done in Virtual Worlds." In it, Forrester predicts that within five years, the "3D internet will be as important for work as the Web is today." Forrester recommends that IT and Knowledge Management professionals begin to experiment with and investigate virtual worlds technology to prepare for the emergence of the 3D internet in the enterprise.
The use of virtual worlds in the enterprise is the focus on my work and the work of other like-minded professionals around the world. We believe that virtual worlds can be used for collaboration, socializing, and training, despite the traditional challenges imposed by physical distance.
